Over 200 people were reportedly killed in a collapse at the Rubaya coltan mine in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) on Wednesday. The death toll was shared by Lumumba Kambere Muyisa, spokesperson for the rebel-appointed governor of the province where the mine is located, Reuters reported. However, the governor feared that the death toll was likely to increase.

As per the report, the mine was located some 60km (37 miles) northwest of Goma city, the provincial capital of North Kivu province. It collapsed on Wednesday, but the precise casualties from the tragic incident remain unclear.
