Shipbuilders of Brisbane Water NSW

Описание: Maritime history of Central Coast NSW is dominated by the shipbuilders history on Brisbane Water. The history includes the shipbuilders, their families and the ships built. The Brisbane Water NSW was explored by Governor Phillip in the first few weeks of the arrival of the first fleet. Shipbuilding commenced in the early days of the colony and continued until the end of the Second World War. During this time over 500 ocean going ships were built and registered in Australia. Perhaps that many again were built but unregistered sailing straight out into the Pacific Ocean or as Island Traders. The Rotary Club of Kincumber led a group of other Rotary Clubs including Erina and Terrigal to conduct an Australia Day event. A grant from the National Australia Day Council allowed for a community bar-b-que, also as part of that grant, a history exhibition was displayed and this video was produced. Thanks to the Rotary Club of Kincumber who accepted and managed the funding for the grant. Thanks to Peter Rea, the history presenter who applied for the grant, conceived the production, wrote the script and provided the ship models. Thanks to acclaimed actor Chris Haywood who generously gave his time and expertise which lifted the production to a different level. Thanks to Matt Bragg of Lemonade Springs who did an amazing job shooting the footage and editing the video within a very tight time frame.
