Since assuming the G20 Presidency in December 2024, South Africa has hosted a range of activities focused on strengthening international cooperation in key areas such as science, innovation, education, and trade and investment. These engagements have included not only G20 member states but also partners across the African continent.Through the Coordination Mechanism for Economic Development (COMED) network, the South African Government has advanced initiatives promoting information sharing and trade and investment opportunities for South African companies operating across Africa. South Africa remains one of the continent’s largest investors in sectors such as energy, telecommunications, agriculture, and infrastructure.
