We meet Haifaa al-Mansour, who directed her first feature on the streets of Riyadh from the back of a van because she was not allowed to be seen working with men in public. We examine the emerging generation of filmmakers finding their voice.
But we also ask harder questions.
What are the limits of creative freedom? Can you build a genuine film culture when content is still censored? What stories are Riyadh's filmmakers allowed to tell — and which ones remain forbidden?
The screens are lit again. The projectors are running. The question now is not whether people in Riyadh will watch movies.
