Riga is Latvia's capital and sits on the Baltic Sea. I will be the first to admit that Latvia was not high on my travel list, but after hearing it come up so often in travel groups, I had to visit to see what all the fuss was about. Although I only had 48 hours to explore Riga, it quickly became one of my favorite European cities!
While in Riga, I tried to squeeze in as much as possible. I spent a large portion of my time in Old Town Riga where I soaked up amazing panoramic views of Riga from St. Peter's Church, marveled at the architectural design of the House of the Blackheads, the Cat House, and the Three Brothers. Sampled delicious food at the Riga Central Market and LIDO. Added perk? The public transportation system is incredibly easy to navigate in Riga, and I never had to call an Uber the entire time I was there.
