Originally from Norfolk, Virginia, Chef Dickenson is heading a chef driven restaurant at 1816 Modern Kitchen and Drinks with fresh and local ingredients. The food is a reflection of his love for cooking and experience in the culinary industry in the last 17 years. From Hell's Kitchen in Virginia to the local Southern Indiana restaurants, Chef Dickenson has won many local awards and nominations including Best Of Louisville and Gravy Bowl under his command as Executive Chef. Local resident of Corydon, Chef Scott is now making 1816 a local staple in the community.

The Food
The menu at 1816 showcases the chef's take on southern comfort fusions. Chef Dickenson focuses on providing fresh food from local farms and gardens. Being a farm-to-table restaurant, this makes 1816 unique in a charming town filled with loyal residents and visitors. Along with our time-tested house favorites, we are continually experimenting and creating new and innovative dishes that will help to expand and challenge our customer's culinary horizons.

The Place
In historic downtown Corydon, the building is known as the Shafer Building but to the locals it will be always known as "Jocko's" . It was the local hangout place with a great cheeseburger and pork tenderloin on the weekends. Regulars included TV starts Ken Kercheval of "Dallas" and James Best of the "Duke of Hazzard".

The Italianate building was originally built in 1892 by Mr. John Schafer who established the St. Cloud Saloon. The building since then has housed a jewelry store, restaurants, a creamery and grocery store.

We hope to provide the community with a neighborhood gathering place once again to come and enjoy the great food, drinks and most of all fellowship.
