I avoided this weapon for a long time, but with the new mods it deserves a closer look.
The SKS has solid base damage, the ability to pierce enemies, and even deals a bit of area damage.
However, its core mechanic with the orbs causes a lot of inconvenience.
The orbs spawn with a delay, not consistently, and are also picked up with a delay.
Without them, the weapon’s damage drops significantly.
This becomes especially problematic in boss fights, where you often have to fire almost an entire magazine just to spawn the orbs.
Other weapons don’t suffer from this issue, which makes SKS feel inconsistent despite its potential.
