SEAlgaePower at Sustainable Blue Economy Partnership (SBEP) Week 2026 Bucharest – Project Presentation
At SBEP Week 2026 in Bucharest, Prof. Cornelia Spetea Wiklund (University of Gothenburg) presented SEAlgaePower during the Kick-Off meeting of the Sustainable Blue Economy Partnership (SBEP) co-funded projects.
SEAlgaePower is developing innovative microalgae-based biotechnologies that recover and valorise nutrients from aquaculture and seafood process waters. By transforming these nutrient-rich side streams into high-value biomass, the project aims to support sustainable production across food, feed, health and MedTech sectors.
In this presentation, Cornelia outlines:
The project’s integrated work package structure
Ongoing screening of marine microalgae strains
Pilot-scale cultivation in real process waters
Biorefinery development and prototype applications
Sustainability assessment and impact strategy
SBEP Week brought together projects from across Europe working to strengthen the sustainable blue economy. The event provided an opportunity to exchange experiences, align approaches, and explore how collaboration can maximise long-term impact.
