Do you love the shipping forecast? Does it help you sleep or relax? In this episode, I announce the shipping forecast, inshore waters forecast, and radio navigation warnings for all UK sea areas for Tuesday 30th August 2022.
I am an ex professional marine radio operator with many years of experience delivering the shipping forecast and other maritime safety information broadcasts live to mariners from coast stations and offshore installations around the UK and beyond. I am building an unusual collection of recordings for those of you that enjoy the mysterious, enigmatic and sometimes hypnotic sound of the UK shipping forecast and other more obscure broadcasts related to shipping and the sea.
Where the coast radio stations of the British Isles have largely fallen silent and the much loved daily broadcasts on Radio 4 are curtailed and under constant threat of disappearance, we are here to keep the airwaves alive with the soothing poetry of maritime radio transmissions.
What you are about to hear is a genuine forecast, delivered as it would be to shipping. PLEASE NOTE HOWEVER - the internet is not part of the Maritime Safety Information system and should never be relied upon as the only means to obtain the latest forecast and warning information.
