Last week, ITV confirmed Gilbert was removed for “repeated use of unacceptable language and behaviour.” The remarks were not aired due to broadcast standards, though reports claimed he allegedly made antisemitic comments.

In a YouTube video posted Monday (October 13), the parish councillor said the incident happened during a late-night chat about conspiracy theories. Gilbert admitted he should have been “more careful” with his tone and word choice.

He explained he was discussing antisemitism, saying he wanted to “stamp it out” but added a controversial line questioning why antisemitic beliefs had “lasted for centuries” - which he said was the reason he was kicked out.

Gilbert defended his right to “ask questions” under freedom of speech, but acknowledged his remarks were “provocative.”

ITV reiterated its statement: “Following repeated use of unacceptable language and behaviour, Gilbert has been removed from the Big Brother house and will no longer participate in the programme.”
