About an hours session spent at the rather weird station of Chelsfield on the South Eastern Mainline where we see plenty of services from Southeastern.
I really don't know what to make of this station, it has no soul or character. Felt more like a prison than anything.
The station was opened in 1868 by the South Eastern Railway, the line running through the station is on a gradient of 1 in 120 running up to the tunnel at the northern end of the station, this was apparently the inspiration behind the Railway Children.
The current station dates from the 1970s as the previous station was damaged by fire.
My next station is the bigger and much more impressive station of Orpington.
