How do scientists navigate belonging, identity and power within academic and research environments?
In this session, Dr Idil Ismail (Postdoctoral Fellow, ARISE2, EMBL-EBI Cambridge), Dr Henry Madubuike (Chartered Scientist and Teaching Fellow in Biomedicine, University of Salford) and Dr Rachael Makgae (Lecturer in Biomedicine, University of Salford) will offer reflective insights into navigating career pathways across chemistry, biomedicine and computational research. Drawing on experiences across academia, industry-linked research, and international study, the speakers will explore how to navigate uncertainty, overcome barriers, and build fulfilling careers in environments where diversity remains underrepresented.
This session forms part of The Catalyst Conversations, delivered through Catalysing Change in Chemical Sciences, an RSC-funded collaborative EDI research project led by Dr Zeljka Krpetic (University of Salford) in partnership with the University of York and the University of Kent.
