During this interview, which will take places in two parts, we visit with Dr. Thomas O’Connor, better known as the Anabolic Doc.



Dr. Thomas O'Connor is the only Board Certified Internist in the U.S. who focusses his practice on the care of men and women who have used or are using anabolic steroids. He is the first American Physician to address steroid use head-on and offers his expert medical services for those who are concerned about how anabolic steroids can and may have adversely affected their health.

Dr. O'Connor understands why people use Anabolic Steroids, and since 2005 has helped thousands of people retain their health. His patients include anyone who is using or has used anabolic steroids, pro-Hormones or other anabolic/androgenic agents (SARMS, anti-estrogens, fertility medications of various types, HGH, IGF, Peptides, clenbuterol, insulin, thyroid preparations, diuretics, amphetamines and other medical agents) and is concerned for their health.

He is going to break down anabolic androgenic steroids, Di-Hydro Testosterone or DHT, testosterone and others. Not only is he going to give us a full history of why these drugs were designed but how they’re used in modern medicine and the side effects that can come along with abusing these drugs.

One of the most important muscles in our bodies that can be effected when using anabolic steroids is our heart and cardiovascular system. Dr. O’Connor will give us a ton of information as to how these drugs effect the heart and why educating people about this is so very important to him and his work.

Dr. O'Connor stresses that these substances are harmful and their use for body building and similar purpose is completely illegal.

Heart Studies:

Ejection fraction (EF) is a measurement, expressed as a percentage, of how much blood the left ventricle pumps out with each contraction. An ejection fraction of 60 percent means that 60 percent of the total amount of blood in the left ventricle is pushed out with each heartbeat.

Left ventricular hypertrophy is enlargement and thickening (hypertrophy) of the walls of your heart's main pumping chamber (left ventricle). Left ventricular hypertrophy can develop in response to some factor — such as high blood pressure or a heart condition — that causes the left ventricle to work harder.



2017 Study conducted at the Massachusetts General Hospital, published by the American Heart Association journal, on long term anabolic steroid use and how it effects the heart: (Age 34 – 54)

Results: steroid users had weaker hearts than those who have never used. They also had worse heart function. The steroid users also were found to have more plaque buildup in their arteries than non-users.
