After Manu, our train ascended the Longtarai range and encountered a 1.962 km tunnel. This is in Dhalai district of Tripura and is the longest one in all of NFR. It took us a little less than four minutes to cross it. I enjoyed the combination of flat wheel track sounds and rumble inside the tunnel. Fast forward to the 3.52 mark if you wish to experience the train accelerating inside the tunnel - it is truly heavenly :-)
The 87 km Manu-Agartala section has three major tunnels as it cuts through the Longtarai, Atharomura and Barmura ranges.
