A cutter suction dredger type CSD450 was chartered by the Dutch contractor Van Der Lee to mine sand. The sand mining job was near the site of a new motorway. The sand was dredged at -12 m using the inboard dredging pump. This diesel powered dredge pump brought the sand some 6.5 km far using two additional booster stations. The pipe line replaced many truckloads of sand cargo.
The dredging vessel is a fully autonomous stationary suction dredger, using its cutter head to break up the hard soil. For this plenty of a cutter power is installed – 110 kW. The integrated sand dredging pump transports the mined material. The dredger is operated by the dredge master only.
