Listening to the voice of retirement village residents: RVRA Research

Описание: In this second podcast from the NSW Retirement Village Residents Association, RVRA President Roger Pallant speaks with James Wiltshire from the DCM Group about the importance of listening to retirement village residents and using research to better understand their experiences.

The conversation highlights the RVRA’s ongoing commitment to evidence-based advocacy, including previous research into psychological safety and abuse in retirement villages, and the current national focus on Support at Home. Roger discusses what the RVRA is hearing directly from residents across retirement villages, including confusion about the Support at Home program, access to services, waiting times, and the need for clearer information about care and support options.

James and Roger also explore the important role retirement villages can play in helping older Australians live independently for longer, supported by neighbours, village communities, and better access to information. The discussion emphasises why resident voices matter, how research can influence government, operators and the wider sector, and why village managers and operators need to create opportunities for residents to better understand the changing aged care and Support at Home landscape.
