The elevator lock of the Marne-Rhine Canal in France: plan incliné de Saint-Louis Arzviller

Описание: While on our barge cruise aboard European Waterways' Panache we traveled the "Canal de la Marne au Rhin", (The Marne-Rhine Canal) in northeastern France, which opened in 1853.
We passed through two tunnels before gliding down to the Zorn Valley in this elevator lock. This "Plan Incliné de Saint-Louis Arzviller" (Saint-Louis Arzviller inclined plane) has been in operation since 1969 and replaced 17 locks.
