Описание: Learn if you qualify for disaster unemployment benefits and how to apply in South Carolina. This video also explains how to keep your benefits and how to appeal if your application is denied.

Have you lost your job because of a natural disaster? The Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA) program can help workers like you. DUA funds are available when the president declares a county a disaster area. To be eligible, you must be out of work due to a major disaster.
*you were unemployed because your company went out of business because of disaster
*you were unable to get to work because of damage from the disaster
*you are now the head of household due to death or injury of the head of household
*you were unable to work due to injury caused by disaster
*self employed or small business owner who lost income due to a disaster

If you are eligible, apply for DUA immediately. You can find this information right after a disaster at local FEMA offices, SC Works locations, and online at https://dew.sc.gov. There is only a short time to apply, so don't wait.

You need to actively look for work to keep your DUA eligibility. If you are turned down for DUA, you can appeal. Your appeal must be filed within 60 days of the denial. Make sure to send in proof that you lost your job due to the disaster.
