When most people think "business school," they don't necessarily think "nonprofit sector." But maybe they should. Nonprofits employ millions of people, generate billions in economic activity, and are the backbone of vibrant communities. And UW-Whitewater is training the next generation of nonprofit leaders.
Today we are talking with Dr. Ruth Hansen, an assistant professor of management and the director of our Institute for Nonprofit Management Studies. Ruth has over 20 years of professional fundraising experience, a Ph.D. focused on fundraising ethics and equity, and she's building something really unique here at CoBE—a program that treats nonprofit management as seriously as any other businessdiscipline.
We're going to talk about what the Institute actually does, why nonprofits belong in a business school, and what Ruth's learning from her research on how gender and values influence charitable giving.
