Andhra Pradesh Rains News: A ‘severe’ cyclone is expected to make landfall along the Andhra Pradesh coast early next week, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Saturday. Once intensified, the storm will be identified as Cyclone Montha, named by Thailand. This will be the second cyclone to develop in October this year, after Cyclone Shakthi that had developed off the Gujarat coast in the Arabian Sea.

The IMD stated that the cyclone will cross Andhra Pradesh, between Machilipatnam and Kalingapatnam near Kakinada, on the evening or night of October 28, with wind speeds expected to reach 90-100 km/hr, gusting to 110 km/hr.
