A tour of the Flat Rock Track, located at Bantry Bay on the Sydney Northern Beaches.
The Flat Rock Track runs from Roseville Bridge towards Flat Rock Beach, with many water views along the way.
A note that according to the National Park Service this trail is currently closed as of 2016 due to a land dispute, as the trail passes through a small section of private land around Killarney Point. You can either go down to the waterline to bypass the private land or backtrack and walk along the road. The trail continues the whole way along unobstructed, you may not even realise that you are on private land, but do this at your own risk and know that it is against the advice of the National Park Service.
The Flat Rock Track is approximately 2.5 km one way, we then also use the Magazine Track for around 500m to get to Flat Rock beach.
Our start point to the track is Downpatrick Road, Killarney Heights. After visiting Flat Rock Beach we finish up the walk at the end of Killarney Drive, at which point I followed the roads back to the Downpatrick Road starting point. There are plenty of nice houses along these roads to look at along the way.
Read the detailed write-up on our website, www.SundayExplorer.com (write-up for this track coming soon).
The track is relatively flat, other than the large number of steps to get down to the beach, however it would not be possible to bring a pram.
