From April 1, the price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder in Delhi has jumped to ₹2,078, marking an increase of around ₹195 in one go. This is the second price hike within the same month.
The key reason behind this surge is the rise in global oil prices, driven by geopolitical tensions in West Asia. Supply chain disruptions are pushing energy prices higher, with crude oil hovering near $100 per barrel.
Commercial LPG is widely used in restaurants, hotels, catering, and small industries. Higher gas prices directly increase operating costs, putting pressure on margins.
This impacts companies like Jubilant FoodWorks, Westlife Foodworld, and Indian Hotels Company, as they now face a choice: absorb costs or pass them on to customers.
With LPG prices already up by ₹300+ in March and global oil outlook remaining volatile, near-term cost pressures are clearly visible.
The final impact will depend on demand strength and pricing power.
