Between 2025 to 2030, Government has proposed to spend over UGX27.7Trn on the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) with the money required for the acquisition of modern equipment, improvement of staff salaries and health care and anticipated security environment.
The revelation was made by Rosette Byengoma, Permanent Secretary Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs, while appearing before Parliament’s Defence and Internal Affairs Committee to present the Army’s 2026/27 National Budget Framework Paper on 28th January 2026.
