In this episode of Blocks Garage, I’m back in the shed building a custom transmission spine for the $500 turbo buggy.
The transmission doesn’t have great factory mounting points, so I’m fabricating a spine using square tubing and custom tabs to tie into existing case bolts and make everything as strong as possible. There’s a lot of test fitting, grinding, welding, and figuring things out as I go.
I also had a close call with a grinder wheel grabbing during a cut, so this episode is a good reminder to always wear proper safety gear when fabricating.
The goal is to get the transmission solidly mounted so it can be welded into the engine mount and finally move this buggy closer to driving.
