For Burns Night, here is a video discussing the origins, history and design of the famous Tam o' Shanter. Scotland forever!
Something I forgot to mention: The commercialisation of tartan and Highland culture was made possible by the Industrial Revolution and the advent of industrially-produced dyes. Previously, locally-available natural dyes would have been used for tartans and bonnets. In the 17th and 18th centuries, not all bonnets were woad blue (although most were). Some were grey or other natural colours, as mine is.
