The Final Ward is perhaps the best-know riff on the classic Last Word and was created in 2007 by Phil Ward at Death & Co. NYC. It is still comprised of equal parts with rye whiskey replacing the gin and fresh lemon juice in place of lime.
The Last Word is a gin-based prohibition-era cocktail which was rediscovered in 2004 and becoming a cult hit in the Seattle area.

INGREDIENTS
22.5mL Rye Whiskey (0.75 oz)
22.5mL Green Chartreuse (0.75 oz)
22.5mL Maraschino Liqueur (0.75 oz)
22.5mL Fresh Lemon Juice (0.75 oz)
METHOD
1. Combine all the ingredients into your cocktail shaker
2. Shake with ice for 12 seconds
3. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass
4. Garnish with a twist of lemon
