Amoako Boafo’s debut solo exhibition in London, I Do Not Come to You by Chance at Gagosian, is a deeply personal and joyful celebration of Black identity, community, and heritage. Inspired by Adaobi Tricia Nwaubani’s novel, the show blends intimate portraiture with immersive design, including a full-scale recreation of the Accra courtyard where Boafo first learned to paint. Known for his signature finger painting technique and emotive portraits, Boafo uses this exhibition to honour his roots, friendships, and the creative energy of his hometown.
