On the importance of holy company, great Guru Sri Adi Shankaracharya mentioned a verse in his Bhaja Govindam:

"Satsangatve nissangatvam
nissangatve nirmohatvam,
nirmohatve nischalatattvam
nischalatattve jivanmuktih."

Meaning: Through the company of the wise Sage, there arises non-attachment; from non-attachment comes freedom from delusion; where there is freedom from delusion, there is abidance in Self-knowledge, which leads to freedom while alive.

It is in this context that we have created this video series under the title, "Spend Your Time with an Enlightened Guru".

This is episode 12 of this video series; and it contains the teachings of enlightened master Sri Ramana Maharshi. When a questioner asked, "how long did it take Maharshi to realize the Self", Maharshi replied that such questions arise as a result of the identification of the ego with the gross body, and he gives an answer from the level of a Jivanmukta.

Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi (1879 - 1950) was a great sage and enlightened guru who lived in Tiruvannamalai district of Tamil Nadu in south India. He is one of the most renowned spiritual gurus of India.
