Fluid visibly spraying from the spoiler actuator area during ground operations raised many questions — fuel or hydraulic fluid?
From an aviation maintenance perspective, the location, pressure pattern, and appearance strongly point toward a hydraulic (Skydrol) leak, not fuel. Spoiler actuators are hydraulically powered, and a pressurized hydraulic line failure can produce exactly this kind of spray and staining.
Fuel lines are not routed through spoiler actuators, making a fuel leak in this area highly unlikely.
This is a great reminder of how complex aircraft systems are — and why trained engineers rely on system knowledge, not assumptions.
Situations like this are controlled, monitored, and handled strictly as per maintenance procedures to keep every flight safe.
