How Do You Measure the Strength of Concrete?

Описание: The compressive strength of concrete is typically measured in PSI (pounds per square inch) or MPa (megapascals). Compressive strength measures how much force it takes for the concrete to be crushed or compressed to failure. A couple ways the compressive strength of concrete is commonly measured are penetration resistance testing and drilling core samples.
Penetration resistance testing uses a device that hammers a small pin into the concrete and measures the force needed to penetrate the surface of the concrete. This is a non-destructive way to measure the compressive strength.
A more destructive measuring process is drilling core samples. A cylinder is drilled out from the finished concrete and crushed in a compression-testing machine (like a hydraulic press) to measure how much force it took to crush the drilled concrete sample.
