What we have here is something truly unique. A 1980 Lada 1200S in all original paint and only 42.000 original kilometers. The Lada 1200S is a re-engineered version of the Fiat 124 produced under license from Fiat and tailored for the nations of the Eastern Bloc, but was widely exported to the West as an economy car. Although the facelifted and modernized versions largely replaced it in the West in the early 1980s, it was still produced for the domestic market as late as 1988. Known as the Zhiguli (for the hills found near the plant) within the Soviet Union, the main differences between the Lada and the Fiat 124 are the use of thicker gauge steel for the bodyshell, drum brakes on the rear wheels in place of disc brakes, and a bespoke engine.

Even though Lada was a very popular and widespread brand, their reputation was on par with European brands. But now, after many years, the classic Ladas are reviving themselves into desirable collectors items. Not many classic Ladas still exist as they were a car for the people and many were scrapped, rusted, etc. That is why the Lada which we are presenting today is a once in a lifetime opportunity. It is very rare to find a Lada 1200S that is in all original paint that is in like new condition with absolutely no rust at all. We found her with a Polish collector just over the border, in Ukraine. She has only driven 42.000kms over her lifetime and you can tell by her quality. Everything is in immaculate condition. Whoever owned her in the past took incredible care of her. She is even still running classic radial tires…

Inside you will find a beautifully preserved time capsule. Her seats, floor mats, dashboard, headliner are all perfect and original. We even have all of the original books, toolkit and even an original first aid kit! We recommend not to use this anymore… You can really sense what this car felt like back in 1980 when it came out of the showroom.

Mechanically she is equally as good as her exterior and interior. With only 42.000kms she has barely run in. Her 1.2L engine is a lively unit that runs great with nothing being changed and being all original. Her 60 bhp is sent through a smooth shifting manual gearbox to the rear wheels.
