Climate Smart Agriculture Exhibition, Lira Edition

Описание: Climate change and environmental degradation are becoming increasingly evident across Uganda, disrupting rainfall patterns essential for agriculture, the backbone of the country’s economy. Yet, despite its profound impact, climate change remains a complex and often misunderstood subject, particularly among farmers and the media. High-quality storytelling on climate-smart agriculture is still limited, leaving many communities without the information they need to adapt effectively.

To bridge this gap, InfoNile, in partnership with Climate Smart Jobs, trained and mentored journalists across the West Nile, Acholi, and Lango regions, equipping them with the skills to report on climate change and agriculture through compelling multimedia storytelling and giving them a niche place of collecting stories from the climate-smart innovations and business models promoted by CSJ`s Agribusiness partners. The stories were collected to show communities the published product, using the same feedback loop to communicate it, and influencing behaviour change in those areas.

By pioneering this approach, Infoline sets a new standard for climate change reporting and is a pacesetter in showing other media houses the new way of climate change reporting, emphasising the importance of returning stories to the communities to drive change and change how media does the stories. While doing this with communities, InfoNile has collaborated with the private sector to show their products and services so that people engage and connect with the solutions that are mentioned in the stories. CSJ and InfoNile will produce video coverage of these efforts and present it in Kampala to key decision-makers in media, the private sector, and the development community, to promote and popularise this new journalism approach.
This exhibition showcases the powerful stories of communities—including refugees, farmers, and urban dwellers—who are embracing climate-smart agriculture to combat food insecurity, protect the environment, and build resilience against climate change. Through these stories, we hope to inspire collective action toward a more sustainable and food-secure future for Uganda.
