In a shocking incident in Visakhapatnam, a gang of women thieves attempted to steal gold jewelry from reputed jewelry shops in Pendurthi and Gajuwaka during broad daylight. Posing as customers, the women created confusion by asking to see multiple ornaments and tried to flee with gold jewelry when staff were distracted. However, alert shop employees noticed the suspicious behavior and followed them. At Sri Venkateswara Jewellers in Visakhapatnam, the accused allegedly hid gold earrings worth around ₹1.5 lakh in their hair and attempted to escape. Based on CCTV footage, police recovered the stolen earrings directly from their hair and foiled the theft. In a similar attempt, members of the same gang tried to rob Om Jewellery Shop in Gajuwaka but were caught after staff immediately alerted the police. Visakhapatnam police arrested a total of seven women in connection with both incidents. The arrested accused belong to Vijayawada and Khammam districts. The timely action of jewelry shop staff and police prevented major losses and exposed the modus operandi of the lady gang.
