Описание: A wave of Russian missile and drone attacks plunged parts of Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, into darkness early Friday (October 10), knocking out power across nine regions and severely damaging the country’s energy infrastructure. At least one person, including a 7-year-old child, was killed and more than 20 were injured in one of the heaviest assaults on Ukraine’s energy facilities this year. Entire neighborhoods in Kyiv faced power outages, disrupted water supplies, and suspended subway services. President Volodymyr Zelenskiy accused Moscow of deliberately targeting civilian infrastructure ahead of winter, calling for “decisive action” from the United States, Europe, and the G7 to deliver advanced air defense systems and enforce tougher sanctions. Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko described the overnight barrage as among the most intense on energy sites, while local officials reported thousands of homes still without electricity. Kyiv’s Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed that high-rise buildings were hit, and fires broke out as emergency teams worked to restore services. The strikes mark a renewed Russian push to cripple Ukraine’s power grid before the cold season — echoing Moscow’s strategy from previous winters.
