Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor held a press conference at 4am on July 2, 2019, to respond to violence and vandalism at the Legislative Council hours earlier.
Lam was joined by the city’s Commissioner of Police Stephen Lo Wai-chung, who said officers stationed inside the Legco building had “no choice” but to retreat temporarily to rearrange their strategy.
