Let's review each episode of the classic Cartoon Network cartoon Samurai Jack in (mostly)under a minute!
Transcript:
Episode 39 closes out Season 3, and thankfully with a fun one. Jack is told of a jewel guarded in a pyramid that will send him through time. But at the same time Jack is breaking in, so is this white-suited thief, and it's a race to see who has the skill to get to the gem first. While a lot of episodes have paid tribute to other media, this is straight up an homage to Lupin the Third. Seriously, this guy looks like if Gee-gan took a bath in bleach. With a personality like Lupin himself. Add to that that this is a heist plot, complete with guards, booby traps, and puzzle rooms. And this is where the fun truly lies. The best part is seeing both characters tackle each obstacle in their own way, with Jack using his heightened senses and physical skills, while the unnamed thief uses a wide array of technology. But they both possess unique skills that are needed to help each other get the jewel. Though once they reach it, the thief won't give it up, and that triggers an argument and the pyramid's defenses, so they have to work together to escape, while fighting over the jewel. Like Jack and the Scotsman, their personalities are a great contrast, with Jack being a serious and duty-bound warrior, while the other guy's a slick, casual thief. With Jack dressed as a ninja for even more contrast, as giving the thief a black suit probably would have triggered a legal dispute. But they still work well together when they're not squabbling, and we get some Lupin-flavored action-comedy. Including ducking into an out-of-nowhere Janitor's closet, because, hey gotta fit that cliche in somewhere! And just when it looks like the thief has left Jack for dead, with some impressive still shots, he proves himself a man of honor and they both get out of there. But the ensuing struggle results in the jewel shattering. This is much better than the last few episodes and the best of the season finales. And yes, the Thief does pop up again in the comics.
