Most people think crossing a state border is easy, but Mizoram is different. I document the history behind the Inner Line Permit (ILP)—a system that dates back to 1873—and why we still need a "permit" to enter this beautiful state today.
Reaching Aizawl on December 27th meant witnessing the famous "Christmas Festive Week." From the harsh sun of the afternoon to the magical "City of Stars" at night, and finally the PIN-DROP silence of a Sunday morning... this city is unlike anywhere else in India.
