This Breeders’ Cup week, the TRF is spotlighting Breeders’ Cup connections reflecting on their horses who now enjoy retirement within our herd. Aftercare is a shared responsibility, and we are grateful for those in the industry who support life beyond the track.
Today we hear from Hall of Fame trainer Bill Mott, who shares a humorous memory of Classic Campaign, a spirited gelding he once trained during his racing career. For more than 15 years, Classic Campaign has lived in dignified retirement with the TRF, and today he serves as a gentle teacher at Lowell Correctional Institution in Ocala, Florida. There, he helps incarcerated individuals learn patience, responsibility, and compassion through our Second Chances Program, proving that his impact continues far beyond the racetrack.
