I’m continuing my challenge of living on £50 for two weeks, following the spirit of the British WW2 ration book and sticking as closely as possible to 1943 weekly rations UK guidelines. This is true wartime budget cooking, using humble vegetables, milk powder, and simple herbs — just as families did on the Home Front.

Ingredients needed for this Recipe
1 1/2 pound potatoes
2 medium carrots
1 stick celery
1 small onion
1/4 pint milk-
1 3/4 pints vegetable water
2 teaspoons salt
pinch pepper
2 teaspoons chopped parsley
