About Onake Abbi Falls Trekking:
The Onake Abbi falls is one of the many waterfalls near Agumbe. If you stand on the bottom of the falls, then Incredible and spectacular view of waterfall is just amazing to watch. If u are a nature lover and if u love Trekking then must visit place in Agumbe Rainforest. The fall is cascading down from a height of around 500 feet and is one of the tallest waterfalls that can be seen on the Western Ghats belt. The first part of the name 'Onake' is a Kannada word that refers a large and thick stick which is used in making powders from food grains. The falls got the name because there is only one branch in the falls and it is like 'onake'!. .
Trekking Distance:
There are two trekking trails to reach Onake Abbi Falls. One, starts from Agubme checkpost which is around 4kms to the top of the waterfalls. Total trekking distance is 8kms, where you reach to the top of the waterfalls. Another, which starts from Someshwar (9kms from Agumbe) which is 7kms up and down. Here you reach the bottom of the waterfalls with provide a spectacular and breath-taking view.
Trekking Difficulty Level:
Trekking some Someshwar though is short in distance but relatively moderate trek as you need to trek steep for almost 3kms continuously and the last 300mts stretch to waterfalls is very risky as you need to walk on water stream and slippery boulders. Definitely not advised for elders and small kids.
Best time for Trekking:
If you want to view the waterfalls in full glory, then best time to visit Onake Abbi Falls is in monsoon time from July to September. However you have to be prepared for the leach attack in peak monsoon time. Post monsoon from October to December also suitable time for trekking but the amount of water will be less and worth trekking.

Its highly recommend to take prior approval from the Forest Department for any trekking you undertake in the forest. For Onake Abbi Falls Trekking, please contact Someshwar Forest Division. Trekking fee per head is Rs. 500 and Guide charges is Rs. 1000 per group.
