Looking Glass Rock is a white-granite pluton rising about 4,000 feet from the floor of Pisgah National Forest. The Looking Glass Rock Hike is one of the most popular NC Hikes. It is located about 45 minutes from Asheville, NC.
This trail climbs about 1,700 ft. in just over three miles. The Looking Glass Rock Hike winds through tunnels of rhododendron with a long series of switchbacks. At about two miles you will reach a flat rock area that is used as a helicopter pad.
At the actual summit there is no view so continue on the trail until you arrive at Upper Looking Glass Cliffs. This is a very dangerous area so be extra careful because the drop is sudden and steep falling about 400 feet into the valley below.
