My little... detour to Sniflheim and other destinations as soon as I got my ship probably made this easier than it could have otherwise been. The Tentacular does have multi-targeting attacks, but I am also much better prepared to deal with those than I was before, Rab's Right as Rain is extremely useful to keep your party in good shape without too much attention and Sylvando's Hustle Dance is great in a pinch!
In terms of offense, the boss comes with two tentacles that are targettable, those will either attack you or protect the boss itself, they do return to combat after a few turns, but it's still worth it to defeat them so you can focus on the body for these turns, plus they come back with less HP than the first time, making it easier to put them away again.
