It’s over. Leo22’s insane Dream Racing record has fallen, and I only beat it by ONE MILLISECOND. This just doesn’t feel real. Huge props to Leo22 for setting such a crazy record though. One year ago, it looked completely out of reach. The gap between 1st and 2nd was 2.210 seconds. And now, it’s broken.
The run itself was overall pretty solid, but with a few noticeable mistakes. The biggest mistake was after the third item box where I bonked onto the corner and got sent pretty far to the left. On the other hand, the item RNG was perfect (20 Rings, Star, another Star, Speed Shoes) and besides that bonk most of the run was executed well.
I’m extremely happy with this run and will let it stand for a while. I will eventually return to this event to grind for a 1:38, but not for a while. The chances of getting another run like this are extremely unlikely.
