The United States on Wednesday seized a Russian-flagged oil tanker in the North Atlantic after pursuing it from off the coast of Venezuela, in an operation set to ratchet up tensions with Moscow. The Russian Transport Ministry confirmed that it lost contact with the Marinera, a Russian-flagged oil tanker linked to Venezuela, after US forces boarded the ship at 7 a.m. ET this morning.
