About the Artist
After having put the finishing touches on his album project entitled “Straight to the Point” produced by newcomer Heat, as well as, the video for the first single entitled “Bomb Bomb Girl”, J.A.G. has hit the the streets running with his single selling out locally in just the first weekend of its release it's held chart positions on the Billboard Rap Singles Chart, as well as, the Billboard R&B/Hip Hop Singles Sales and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks charts. His distinctive raspy voice has people chanting “I need a Bomb Girl”. There’s definitely something on his full-length CD for everybody. “There’s the party joints, the deep spiritual joints, and the straight hardcore tracks. I just hope the world is ready for me!”
Oddly enough, J.A.G. hails out of the Midwest not usually known for it hip-hop lyricists. Dayton, Ohio to be specific...the birthplace of soulful funk groups like Heatwave, The Ohio Players, Roger Troutman and Zapp. Needless to say, J.A.G. was inspired by many of these groups.
It’s taken several years for J.A.G. to rise up through the midwest hip-hop ranks building a rep. He was first noticed as MC Piece where he was able to entice audiences with his freestyle abilities at regional contests and showcases. He later hooked up with another rapper and friend, Stevo Mac and changed his moniker to J.A.G. Some say it says something about his relationship with Jesus And God. Others say its a testament to the type of luxury he plans to introduced to his family when he buys his mom a brand new Jaguar as soon as he sees riches. Either way, J.A.G. realized that he had to grow. He went solo and approached hip- hop/R&B producer, Heat, who was also looking to make some noise in the industry.
"There is nothing flossy or fabricated about his style, and as his album title stresses, J.A.G. gets straight to the point in his lyrics. Although the first single, "Bomb Bomb Girl" is more of a club anthem, tracks like "Repent", "Close My Casket", and "When God Calls" are the real standouts. With his gruffy delivery, he combines personal reflections, spirituality, and street knowledge into tight flows that provide mental food for the listener." -Mildred, Flava CD's & Apparel
Steadily building an audience for his style that is straight to the point, energetic, and spiritual at the same time, J.A.G. constantly performs in various regional musical events and clubs. His style, which also has a country flair, and his ability to get the crowd going has afforded him the opportunity to open up for several major acts who have come through the midwest including the late Notorious B.I.G., Twista, and Mystikal.
If tracks such as “Whatchu Think About Dat?”, “Thing's Ain't Good in the Hood”, and “Y'all Aint Ready” (which are clearly representative of his multifaceted style and delivery) are any indication of what’s to come, J.A.G. is destined for success. Just listen.
