FG Gardiner Expressway York-Bay-Yonge exit ramp Demolition

Описание: This 2 minute video with music in the background shows the removal of the York-Bay-Yonge off-ramp, which runs off of the F.G. Gardiner Expressway. The elevated off-ramp is made up of thirty-seven (37) spans, crossing over Rees Street, Lower Simcoe Street and York Street terminating at Bay Street. It also rounds off and reaches the ground in a loop next to York Street in York Street Off Ramp Park. The off-ramp is comprised of steel girders and a concrete deck. There are large concrete piers that support the off-ramp. The video is a time lapse recording, taking place over several weeks of work. The affected areas under the off-ramp were closed to traffic while the demolition was happening, but the traffic lanes on the F.G. Gardiner Expressway, just north of the off-ramp, remained open and cars are constantly passing by. The first items to be removed from the off-ramp are the layers of concrete and asphalt roadway. Next, powerful and highly destructive heavy construction equipment, such as hydraulic hammers and excavators, arrive at the area beside the off-ramp and begin the process of breaking apart the concrete and structural steel that make up the bridge superstructure. Materials removed from the bridge are loaded into container dump trucks as the work progresses and carried away, keeping the work site free of debris. Construction workers move about the sites, checking the work as it proceeds. The demolition and debris removal process continues until late in the evening and then begins again in the early morning, until the entire bridge deck is completely gone and all that is left are abutments located on either side of the road and large concrete piers that supported the off-ramp superstructure. Throughout the video the light changes from night to day and night to day. The weather patterns and clouds in the sky are constantly changing with sun, rain, and winds all visible in the video.
