. The Sager Traction Splint equipment is designed for a single Rescuer to use, but we incorporated a helper bystander to provide support of the injured site. The Sager Traction Splint skill is considered a "Seldom Used Skill" for many first responders, because it is not common to find a patient with a CLOSED MID-SHAFT FEMUR FRACTURE. Nevertheless the equipment is stocked in every fire apparatus and ambulance rig and the community depends on rescuers to remain fresh in their skill levels. Moreover, it is imperative to recognize when to use the traction splint and how to carefully apply it to prevent further damage and help relieve pain. The Sager Traction Splint is designed for bilateral fractures and rescuers should also practice splinting both legs at once.

The training video is designed for Students, First Responders, and Emergency Medical Personnel. Pausing the video is helpful, so that you may read instructional information and repeat for the purpose of memorizing key concepts. Notice that the displayed text and the instructor verbiage may not always match 100% of the time, because the idea is for you to formulate your own phraseology while hitting the points as you speak. Although you are expected to know key terms, the manner in which you express them should feel natural to you when verbalizing it out loud to your classmates, proctor, co-workers and/or patient; especially if English is your second language. Always check with your lead instructor for feedback to ensure you follow current performance expectations.
