LAFD: Firefighters Battle South LA Commercial Blaze | March 2, 2021

Описание: SOUTH LOS ANGELES - Early Tuesday morning, LAFD battled a large commercial blaze, keeping the fire from spreading to to the nearby neighborhood.

LAFD responded 2727 South Long Beach Avenue at 3:39 AM to find a 21,711 square-foot one-story commercial building engulfed in flames. The Incident Commander immediately recognized the heavy fire load taxing the structural members of the building and ordered firefighters to attack the flames from the exterior of the building from a defensive position. Firefighters deployed master streams, including ladder pipes and large hand lines, to "surround and drown" the building, which contained textiles and provided for an extreme fire load inside. There was a partial roof collapse during the battle, but the walls stood firm. Firefighters quick actions saved the nearby neighborhood from becoming involved with the blaze. Over 140 firefighters took one hour and 48 minutes to extinguish the blaze. LAFD heavy equipment came in to assist with debris removal, allowing firefighters to continue cooling hot spots buried in the rubble. There were no reported injuries and LAFD Fire Investigators are actively searching for a definitive cause.
