World Series of Poker 2005. This is Part 1 of 2 with $1,000,000 to the winner. 114 Players contested this event with a total prize pool of $2m and no buyin.
Prior to the event, Harrah's advertised that to qualify a player would need to reach the final table of the 2005 World Series of Poker $10,000 no limit Texas hold 'em championship event, or win any World Series of Poker Circuit event. 3 sponsors exemptions were later allowed into the field being Doyle Brunson, Phil Helmuth and Johnny Chan.
From 2006 onward, Harrah's reserved the right to let in up to six players via sponsor's exemptions.
A great line-up gathered at the final table including Phil Helmuth, Tony Bloom, Mike Matusow, Steve Dannenmann, Hoyt Corkins and Brandon Adams.
