Описание: Mynydd Illtyd is one of the most accessible and quietly beautiful upland areas in Bannau Brycheiniog, sitting just west of Brecon and rising as a broad, open plateau above the Usk Valley. Rather than dramatic peaks, it offers sweeping moorland, big skies and long views across to Pen‑y‑Fan, Corn Du and the central Beacons. Its gentle gradients make it a favourite for easy walking, wildlife watching and those wanting the feel of high ground without a strenuous climb. The landscape is a mix of heather, rough grassland and scattered wetlands, giving it a soft, open character that changes colour with the seasons. It’s also an area rich in history and ecology. The moorland supports skylarks, curlews and grazing ponies, while traces of ancient settlement and old trackways lie hidden in the turf. The National Park Visitor Centre sits on its southern edge, offering one of the best panoramic viewpoints in the region and acting as a gateway to the wider plateau. Mynydd Illtyd has a calm, expansive atmosphere—an easy place to wander, breathe and take in the full sweep of the Brecon Beacons without ever feeling rushed or crowded.
